Atlanta has always been known for music greatness and this still holds true today. The American Music Awards has nominated some of Atlanta’s best artists to receive awards. See the show on ABC with host Jimmy Kimmel on November 23.

The winners will be picked by voters online via ABC’s website, which is being sponsored by Atlanta based Coca Cola.
Access Atlanta has given the scoop on who is nominated for what:

· Usher was nominated for both top pop/rock male act (vs. Kid Rock and Chris Brown) and top R&B male act (vs. Chris Brown again and J. Holiday) Brown in both categories will be tough to beat.

· The-Dream picked up a nom for “breakthrough artist” but will face stiff competition vs. Colbie Caillat, Flo Rida, Jonas Brothers and Paramore. (May as well just pen in the Jonas Brothers to win this one.)

· Sugarland is up for favorite band, duo or group in country again. The duo lost of Big & Rich last year but are now up against Brooks & Dunn and Rascal Flatts. They have a solid chance of winning this year.

· Casting Crowns is up again for favorite Contemporary Christian artist, a category the McDonough group won last year. But they will now be up against veteran Atlanta group Third Day as well as MercyMe.
