While the real estate market may be considered weak, there is strong interest in luxury lofts! Forbes.com profiles Ten Hot Luxury Lofts and Atlanta’s artsy neighborhood of Castleberry Hill loft was added to the list.
John Graeber, owner of Atlanta-based Graeber Realty, says that even though summer 2008 is a bad time for real estate, high-end lofts continue to garner interest.
Graeber has a listing that has gained national attention. On the market right now, he's currently representing the owners of a 2,012-square-foot converted loft in the old Johnson & Johnson (nyse: JNJ - news - people ) building in the artsy neighborhood of Castleberry Hill, southwest of downtown Atlanta, where there are galleries, trendy bars and unique restaurants. Along with a walk-in closet, central air and exposed-brick walls, the two-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath loft features a laundry room, hardwood floors, two garage spaces and rooftop access. There's also a 720-square-foot basement.
Graeber's loft is listed at $445,000, in a city where the median home price in 2007 was $197,000. The loft may be expensive by Atlanta standards, but less than half a million is a bargain in some areas of the country.
